Excercise it out
There's nothing like a good workout to make you feel better. Exercising for just one minute can give you the same benefits as between 90 and 120 minutes of relaxation, thanks to the 'feel good' endorphins that are released.
It may seem like the last thing you want to do if you're already busy 24/7, but exercise can provide an immediate distraction from stressful events. It's also an outlet for built-up adrenalin, releases feel-good hormones and when you're being physically active, stress poses much less of a long term threat to your health.
Brisk walking is an easy place to start, or if you are feeling more adventurous why not sign up for an exercise class? This is especially useful as it has a social element that also helps you to de-stress because as we all know, it's good to talk.
If you don't like working out with others or don't feel you have the time, there are lots of other things you can do. Get off the bus one stop too early, park the car at the furthest point of the car park or simply take the stairs instead of the lift. Energetic housework can distract your mind and usefully tire out your body. Even a few stretches at your desk can ease tension and thereby improve your concentration.
It's a good idea to check with your doctor before starting any exercise programme.
